Pioneer Woman chicken bacon ranch pizza takes 1 hour 5 minutes and chicken, crispy bacon and homemade ranch to make a golden, cheesy dinner pizza. It's an easy family pizza night idea for game day, Super Bowl parties or weeknight dinners, and it's made with a simple homemade ranch dressing.
Preheat your pizza stone or upside-down baking sheet at 500°F for a full 30 minutes before baking. A lukewarm surface leaves you with a pale, floppy crust that can't hold all that cheese and chicken.
Tossing the chicken in hot bacon drippings, garlic powder and parmesan seasons every bite before it ever touches the dough. Using homemade ranch as the sauce instead of tomato also gives the pizza a creamy, herby base that store-bought dressing can't quite match.

kcalA thin ranch base, melted mozzarella and white cheddar, and bacon-seasoned chicken bake onto a crust that turns browned and crisp underneath. Slide the pizza onto a screaming-hot surface and the cheese bubbles while the edges puff and crackle.
Ingredients
3/4 c. mayonnaise
1/3 c. sour cream
1/4 c. buttermilk
2 tbsp. chopped fresh chives, plus more for garnish
2 tbsp. chopped fresh dill
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. white vinegar
1/4 tsp. kosher salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 garlic clove, grated
4 slices thick-cut bacon
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/2 c. sliced cooked chicken (about 10 ounces)
6 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese (about 3 ounces)
2 tbsp. olive oil, plus more for brushing
All-purpose flour, for dusting
1 lb. store-bought or homemade pizza dough, at room temperature
2 c. shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese (about 8 ounces)
1 c. shredded white cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)
1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
Directions
- Make the ranch: Whisk 3/4 cup mayonnaise, 1/3 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup buttermilk, 2 tablespoons chives and 2 tablespoons dill in a medium bowl. Then whisk in 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon white vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and 1 grated garlic clove, cover it and refrigerate until you're ready to use it.
- Preheat the oven: About 30 minutes before baking, set a pizza stone, baking steel or upside-down baking sheet on the upper third rack. Then heat the oven to 500°F so the surface is blazing hot.
- Cook the bacon: Cook 4 slices of thick-cut bacon in a large skillet over medium heat, flipping occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes. Once the slices are brown and crispy, move them to a paper towel-lined plate to cool and chop them small.
- Coat the chicken: Pour 2 tablespoons of the hot bacon drippings into a large bowl and stir in 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. Add 1 1/2 cups sliced cooked chicken and 2 tablespoons of the parmesan, then toss until everything is well coated.
- Prep the foil: Lay a 14-inch piece of heavy-duty foil over an upside-down half-sheet pan. Then dust it lightly with flour so the dough won't stick.
- Rest the dough: Cut 1 pound of room-temperature pizza dough in half on a lightly floured surface and shape each half into a tight ball. Set them about 3 inches apart, cover them, and let them rest for 10 minutes until they spring back slowly when pressed.
- Stretch the crust: Pull and stretch one dough ball into a 10-inch round. Transfer it to the floured foil and keep the other ball covered.
- Top the pizza: Sprinkle the dough with 2 tablespoons of the parmesan, then spread 1/2 cup of the ranch over it, leaving a 1-inch border. Add 1 cup of the mozzarella and 1/4 cup of the cheddar, then half the red onion, half the chicken and half the bacon. Finish with another 1/4 cup of the cheddar.
- Bake and finish: Use the upside-down baking sheet as a peel to slide the pizza, foil and all, onto the preheated stone. Bake for 12 to 16 minutes until the crust is browned and the cheese is bubbling, then brush the crust with olive oil.
- Drizzle and repeat: Drizzle the pizza with more ranch, or serve it on the side for dipping, and scatter chives on top. Then repeat with the remaining dough and toppings for the second pizza.

FAQs
Can I use store-bought ranch instead of homemade?
Yes, bottled ranch works fine when you're short on time. The homemade version adds fresh dill and chives that give the pizza a brighter flavor, so I'd use it when you can.
Can I use rotisserie chicken?
Shredded or sliced rotisserie chicken is a great shortcut here, since the chicken only needs to be cooked and tender before it goes on the pizza. Just toss it in the bacon drippings the same way so it picks up that smoky flavor.
How do I keep the crust from getting soggy?
Leave a 1-inch border and don't spread the ranch too thick, because extra dressing adds moisture the dough can't absorb. A very hot stone or baking sheet also helps the bottom crisp fast.
Can I bake this without a pizza stone?
An upside-down baking sheet preheated for 30 minutes does the same job as a stone. That's why the recipe uses it, and it also acts as your peel for sliding the pizza in.
Can I freeze the leftover dough or ranch?
Pizza dough freezes well, so wrap it tightly and thaw it in the fridge before shaping. I wouldn't freeze the ranch, though, because the mayonnaise and sour cream separate once thawed.
