Pioneer Woman Champagne Punch

Pioneer Woman champagne punch takes 10 minutes and a bottle of prosecco, orange liqueur and cranberry juice to make a bubbly pink holiday punch. Save this easy party punch for New Year's Eve, Christmas or Valentine's Day, because it's a make-ahead drink that serves a crowd of 8 to 10.

Add the sparkling wine only right before serving, and pour it in slowly so the bubbles stay lively. Pour it in too early and the punch goes flat within minutes.

Juicing half a blood orange into the bowl gives the punch a tart citrus backbone that bottled juice alone can't deliver. Freezing cranberries to float among the ice also keeps the punch cold without watering it down, so every glass tastes as good as the first.

Sparkling wine tops a chilled blend of fruit juice and orange liqueur, then fizzes around floating cranberries, strawberries and orange slices. It stays crisp and cold in the bowl, so the bubbles last through the party.

Ingredients

  • 4 c. white-cranberry-strawberry juice

  • 1/2 c. vodka (orange or strawberry vodka)

  • 1/2 c. orange liqueur, such as triple sec

  • 1 blood orange

  • 4 c. Ice

  • 1/2 c. frozen cranberries

  • 1 c. halved strawberries

  • 1 (750-mL.) bottle white sparkling wine, such as prosecco, cava, or champagne

Directions

  • Mix the base: Combine 4 cups white-cranberry-strawberry juice, 1/2 cup vodka and 1/2 cup orange liqueur in a large bowl. You can refrigerate this mixture for up to 24 hours, so it's easy to make ahead.
  • Prep the orange: Cut the blood orange in half, then juice one half right into the punch bowl. Slice the other half thinly into semicircles and set them aside for the garnish.
  • Add the fruit: Add 4 cups ice, 1/2 cup frozen cranberries, 1 cup halved strawberries and the orange slices to the bowl. Stir gently so the fruit spreads out and everything chills.
  • Pour the bubbly: Just before serving, carefully pour in the 750-mL bottle of white sparkling wine. Ladle the punch into glasses while it's still fizzy.

FAQs

Can I swap the orange liqueur for something else?

Fresh orange juice is the easiest swap, though the punch will be a little less boozy and slightly less sweet. Use about 1/2 cup and taste before serving.

Can I leave out the vodka?

Really, and the punch will taste lighter and more refreshing for daytime sipping. The sparkling wine and orange liqueur still give it plenty of flavor.

Can I use frozen strawberries instead of fresh?

Yes, frozen strawberries work fine here because they also help keep the punch cold. They soften a bit as they thaw, so add them right when you add the ice.

Do I need a punch bowl to serve this?

Any large glass bowl or a big pitcher works fine. A wide bowl lets the fruit float on top, which shows off the pretty pink color.

What's the most common mistake with this punch?

Adding the sparkling wine too early is the biggest one, because the bubbles fade fast. Pour it in at the last minute and serve right away for the best fizz.
